At the International Olympic Committee (the “IOC”, or “We”), We attach great importance to your privacy and undertake to protect all personal information that We collect and process in relation with your use of the ATHLETE LEARNING GATEWAY [http://onlinecourse.olympic.org] website (the “Website”) in accordance with our Terms of Use. The present Privacy Policy, as updated by the IOC from time to time, defines the conditions in which you authorize the IOC to collect and process such personal information.

1. Collection and processing of personal data

The use of certain functionalities of the Website requires that you register with the IOC and provide the IOC with certain information about yourself, including personal data within the meaning of the Federal Data Protection Law of June 19, 1992. In order to register with the IOC, you may be invited to provide information about yourself such as full name or email address.

BY PROVIDING THE IOC WITH YOUR PERSONAL DATA, YOU EXPRESSLY AUTHORIZE THE IOC, AND ITS SUBCONTRACTORS TO COLLECT AND SUBSEQUENTLY PROCESS SUCH DATA IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS DEFINED HEREIN.

You also agree that the IOC may implement an automatic tracking process (cookie) gathering anonymous information, such as browser type, operating systems and the date and time of access when you use the Website to help improve the content of the Website, to customize the Website for our visitors and to learn more about them and how they use the Website. You may block cookies by changing your browser settings.

The IOC commits to only collect and process of your personal data in a transparent, lawful and proportional manner.

2. Right of access

At any time, you may request access to your personal data and to request a correction of any erroneous or incomplete data about you by contacting the IOC at the following address legal@olympic.org. You can also update your personal data at any time by accessing your user account. It is your responsibility to verify that your personal data is accurate and updated. In case, you notice that some of your personal data is inaccurate or obsolete, it is your responsibility to notify the IOC.

3. Purpose of the collection and processing of personal data

Pursuant to this Privacy policy, the IOC will collect and process your personal data solely for the following purposes:

1. Registration for your use of the Website;

2. Allowing your participation in the courses and programs offered via the Website;

3. Allowing you to interact with other users of the Website and post user-generated content on the Website

4. Maintaining and developing the Website;

5. Compiling statistics in order to improve the quality of the services offered to users;

6. Other purposes as agreed by you.

4. Hosting and transfer of your personal data

The IOC is based in Switzerland and all personal data you submit to the IOC will be hosted in that State, or in a State of the European Union. As a matter of principle, the IOC will never transmit your personal data to third parties without your prior consent.

By registering to the Website, you accept that the IOC may transmit your personal data to other entities of the Olympic Movement, or its subcontractors, including outside Switzerland or European Union, if the IOC deems it necessary for the purposes mentioned in Section 3. The IOC will take all necessary measures to ensure that the receiving entity has agreed to keep your data confidential and secure. If the level of privacy protection in a country does not comply with internationally recognized standards, the IOC will ensure that data transfers to databases in that country are equally protected and that a transfer of data to third parties in such countries does not occur.

The IOC and its subcontractors reserve the right to release your personal data if required under law to do so, or based on the good-faith belief that such release is necessary to comply with applicable legislation.

5. Data security

The IOC is committed to ensure the best possible level of security of your personal data, and will take adequate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against the risks of damage, destruction, loss or unauthorized access.

6. Data retention

The IOC will retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set forth under Section 3 above. Please note that data may be kept for a longer period of time exclusively for mere statistical purposes and the IOC shall use anonymous data wherever possible.

7. Age limitation

Registration is not open to users under the age of 13. By registering with the IOC, you warrant that you are 13 years of age or older. If you are under 18, you must obtain the authorization of your parents or legal guardian before using the Website and registering with the IOC.

If you are the parent or legal guardian of a minor under the age of 18, and that minor has somehow registered with the IOC without your authorization, please contact the IOC and we will provide you with full instructions on how to cancel your child’s registration.

8. Spamming

The IOC will not engage in spamming and will not authorize the use of your personal information for commercial or advertising purposes by third parties, except with your express consent. Where we believe that certain information about the Olympic Movement’s activities is of importance to you, we inform you by e-mail whilst giving you the choice of opting out of such service.

9. Amendment of this Privacy Policy

The IOC reserves the right to change any of the terms and conditions contained in the present Privacy policy, at any time and in its sole discretion. When changes are made, the last updated version will be effective immediately upon posting on the Website. Your continued use of the Website following the posting of changes will constitute your acceptance of such changes. The IOC encourages you to review the Website Terms of Use and Privacy Policy periodically to be informed of any change.
